Affordable plan, slow support

I got a Google Pixel with a contract here, the price was really good compared to other places. Delivery took 4 business days to Stuttgart, which was okay. The phone works great on the O2 network. I had a question about my first bill though and it took them almost 3 days to get back to me. The support response itself was helpful once it came, but the wait was a bit long. Overall, good value, but customer service could be faster.

Good SIM-only deal

Signed up for a SIM-only plan last week. Setup was easy online. SIM arrived fast, took 3 days. Been working fine ever since. No complaints there.

Easy switch, decent network

I switched from my old provider to maXXim for an LTE Allnet Flat. The number porting process was smooth, took about a week after I filled out the form. Customer service answered my network query quickly via email. Signal strength here in Berlin has been pretty consistent. Got the Nano SIM, activated right away. So far, happy with the monthly cost too.

Thinking about switching to maXXim, but like, do they actually use a decent network? Not trying to get stuck with bad reception.

Yeah, they use O2's network, which is alright. Not as good as Telekom maybe but way better than some of the budget ones out there. I've had no real issues in Berlin.

It's Telefonica (O2), so coverage can be hit or miss depending where you are. Definitely check their coverage map for your area first, seriously. It's usually fine in cities, but out in the sticks can be rough.

Anyone know how the discounts work? I see they mention stuff like activation fee waived, but do you need a code or how do you make sure you get it?

L Lisa 4 months ago
Most of the time it's just applied automatically if you go through their promo pages. Or sometimes you pick it when you're customizing your plan. I didn't need a code last time.

Yeah, usually no code needed for those. They usually just have a special link or it's an option at checkout. I think I remember seeing an 'Aktionscode' field though if they do have one, but it's rare.
